Hinata hummed as she weeded through her little herb garden, delicately plucking out the dandelions and leaving her herbs safe. The work took all her attention, but she didn't mind at all. Gardening was calming, and one of the rare times she could really let herself go and be herself without fear of repercussions.

That didn't mean she didn't hear the soft sound of footsteps behind her, or the quiet panting of the large white dog outside the walls.

“Hello, Kiba.”

Her teammate paused and them smirked—he always made the same sound when he smiled like that. “You almost done?”

Hinata turned to look at him, head turned slightly to the side. “Almost. Why?”

Kiba grinned but said nothing. Shaking her head, Hinata quickly finished the section of the garden she was working on and stood up and brushed off her knees. Kiba definitely seemed to be in a good mood today.

“Ready.”

“Good.” He took her hand and led her back out of the garden, through the gate, and to the waiting Akamaru. The large dog stood and wagged his tail as she approached, and licked her hand when she offered it. Akamaru had once made her nervous, but his dog kisses made her smile, now.

Rather like Kiba's did.

“So where are we going, exactly?” Hinata didn't mind being led through the village, her fingers gently held in Kiba's, but she preferred to know what they were doing and where they were going. Surprises, while nice, were not usually her favorite things.

“You'll see.” Kiba, however, loved them. He continued to lead them past the houses, past the gates, and only stopped when they reached the sparkling pond just beyond the border of the trees. He grinned like an idiot as she released his hand and took a step forward, taking in the view. “Remember this place?”

“Of course.” This was where they'd first gotten together, years ago. They didn't return often because of conflicting schedules and the fact it was easy to find them. It wasn't really hidden, just unused. “...Why are we here, though?”

“I thought you might like it.” He shrugged and sat down, patting the ground beside him for her to take a seat. “You've been stressing too much lately. You don't gotta worry about anything here.” He grinned again, his fangs showing, and Hinata smiled.

“Thank you.” She kissed his cheek and leaned her head against his shoulder, happy. Kiba wasn't very observant, but when he was he managed to make everything better.
