Warnings: Ambiguous spoilers for the ending.
Summary: No matter how much the story is rewritten, the ending cannot change.
Behold the power of ambiguity!
He writes and writes and writes, flowery speech filled with dancing and desire and tender, oh so painful feelings, but nothing changes. Perhaps his heart isn’t in it, perhaps hers isn’t either. Perhaps they both know this path is wrong and so resist the magic. But still he writes, dreams, imagines her there, beautiful and awkward, boisterous and untrained in a dance only he can follow but never lead. He never was able to lead; not her, not this.
But still he writes and dreams even as he knows there can only ever be one true ending to the faerie tale.
