Warnings: No spoilers. And I'm sure this has been done to death but the idea hit me so here it is. Ammy and Issun meet up with someone in a kind-of similar situation.
Also, Issun has a terrible eye for hot women. Tsk tsk, Issun.
“Where the hell did we end up?”
Amaterasu whined slightly as Issun hopped about, taking in their surroundings. Darkness permeated everything, worse than the deepest dungeons they’d been in. Not a sound could be heard outside the little plip-plop of Issun’s feet hitting the hard ground.
“This isn’t like Nippon at all!”
A bright light pierced the darkness for a brief second and Amaterasu crouched low, hackles raised as she growled low in her throat. Issun hopped up onto her head quickly, the Divine Instrument spinning silently above him.
A strange voice echoed out into the darkness then in a language Issun never heard before. Amaterasu’s growling didn’t lessen, especially when the two figures emerged from the thicker darkness.
The other wolf was huge and rugged, his coat a dark grey. He instantly fell down into a battle stance quite similar to the white wolf before him. His passenger said something quickly, her voice deeper than it had been only moments earlier as she grew serious.
Amaterasu slowly circled the other, both keeping a wary distance. Issun held the hilt of his sword threateningly, and the creature on the dark wolf’s back held her hands out slightly, fingers sharp like claws. Her eyes narrowed behind the half mask she wore. Eventually though she called something out to her companion and the dark wolf advanced slightly. Issun pulled his sword from its scabbard and waved it around as he hopped up and down.
“Whatever kinda monster you are, just know that this here wolf is Ammy the Vicious and together we’ll tear you limb from limb!”
The other quirked her head to the side at his words and then suddenly burst out laughing. Both wolves paused at the sound and the dark wolf sat on his haunches when his passenger tapped his forehead. She said something then, arms crossed over her chest and a smirk on her face, and Issun hopped about even more. Amaterasu stopped prowling and growled up at Issun as his sword came a little too close to one of her ears. The strange girl laughed harder.
“Why you!” Issun hopped off Amaterasu and advanced towards the dark wolf, who stood quickly and stared down at the little bouncing man. The girl crossed her legs and smirked some more. Issun hopped around frantically, his anger uncontrollable.
He was not prepared, however, for the dark paw that flicked him away moments later, and he skidded to a stop beside Amaterasu. She looked down at him, her tail wagging, and Issun raged some more. What did it take to get some respect around here?!
The world shifted suddenly then, and Amaterasu and the other wolf were on their feet in an instant, eyes searching and growls rumbling from deep in their chests. The strange girl—she wasn’t even stacked, what a waste—floated up away from her partner, poised for a fight. Issun scrambled up to Amaterasu’s forehead, sword held at the ready.
A faint light pierced the darkness, more grey than anything. The girl said something to her partner, voice excited, and descended onto the wolf’s back. She tapped his head and he growled, but began to trot towards the grey area.
“Hey, wait!” Amaterasu advanced at Issun’s call, her hackles raised. “Where do ya think you’re going? We aren’t finished yet!” As he spoke another shift rumbled past, and a bright light appeared behind them. Amaterasu turned to look and almost immediately broke off pursuit of the other wolf.
Bright green fields welcomed them as they ran, Nippon almost within reach. Issun turned to see where the others had gone and just caught a glimpse of the two dark figures enter a place filled with deep purplish shadows and floating debris. Then Amaterasu was through whatever it was they’d been trapped in and the darkness folded in on itself until it was a spec of dust.
Issun glanced around at Shinshu Field along with the wolf goddess and sighed as he finally sheathed his sword.
“You have any idea what that was, Ammy?”
She trotted deeper into the field, heading towards Kamiki Village, and Issun settled back against one of her ears.
“Yeah, me neither.”
The white wolf continued to happily ignore him as she kept her thoughts to herself, and Issun shrugged. Ah well. They had bigger things to worry about anyway, and hotter babes awaiting them.
