She doesn’t know what it is. It sits on the ground before her, and if she turns her head just slightly it sparkles. Each time her tail wags and she nudges it, and each time the sparkle goes away. She whines and waits again, tail wagging just a bit.
When Issun wakes up she is still sitting, watching the Shiny Thing, only now she’s realized how to make it sparkle and casually pushes it back and forth between her paws in the fading light.
“What’re ya doing, furball?”
Amaterasu ignores him in favor of her Shiny Thing. After a while Issun tires of her dawdling and she tires of his voice. The moment he jumps down and slices the Shiny Thing in half she flicks him far away with her paw and marches off, her tail held high and wagging.
Time to find another Shiny Thing.
